China Bathroom Market 2025: Overview of 24 Key Brands (Domestic & International)
China is one of the world’s largest production and consumption markets for bathroom products, demonstrating characteristics of continuous scale expansion and accelerated structural upgrading in recent years. According to data from the China Building Materials Federation, the market size of bathroom fixtures is expected to reach 320 billion yuan (44.6B USD) by 2025.
Bathroom products mainly include ceramic sanitary ware, hardware accessories (faucets, showerheads, hoses, hangers, floor drains), smart bathroom products (mainly smart toilets), etc. This article discusses bathroom brands in the Chinese market, including local brands and international brands.
Chinese Domestic Brands of Bathroom Fixtures
1. JOMOO
As China’s leading domestic bathroom brand, JOMOO represents the sanitary ware industry in Nan’an, Fujian. Starting from hardware products, JOMOO excels in marketing and channel development, with deep and extensive penetration in both offline and online channels. It enjoys high brand awareness and is almost a household name.
2. ARROW
Representing the bathroom industry in Foshan, Guangdong, ARROW is equally proficient in channel and product integration. With a complete product line, its strength is on par with JOMOO, having consecutively held the title of top-selling domestic bathroom brand for many years.
3. HEGII
Originating in Chaozhou, Guangdong (known as the “Ceramic Capital”), HEGII later relocated to Foshan. Its core products are ceramic fixtures, while its hardware capabilities are relatively weaker—some products like faucets and showerheads are OEM-produced by other factories. OEM is common in the bathroom industry, with mutual OEM practices among peers. For example, Huida not only provides OEM services for the U.S.-based Foremost Groups (owning brands like Foremost, Contrac, and Jetcoat) but also collaborates with external factories for its own production.
4. Huida
Hailing from Tangshan, Hebei (the “Northern Ceramic Capital”), Huida is one of the senior first-tier domestic bathroom brands. It has gradually expanded from ceramic main industry to comprehensive bathroom products, with a large export proportion, selling to over 100 countries and regions. Its domestic reputation is lower than the aforementioned brands. Besides bathroom fixtures, Huida also produces building ceramics (tiles), though the proportion is minimal.
These four are the leading local brands in China. Although JOMOO positions itself as “focused on high-end bathrooms,” it primarily targets the mid-range market (notably, JOMOO has acquired several brands, including the French luxury bathroom brand THG). The high-end domestic bathroom market is mostly dominated by international brands.
Other common domestic bathroom brands include:
- Dongpeng (a renowned tile brand that expanded into bathroom products after starting with tiles)
- SSWW (based in Foshan, starting from bathtubs and expanding to full-category bathroom products)
- Monarch (a brand that prefers innovative approaches, introducing the first colored toilet and the first acrylic toilet)
- HCG (from Taiwan-based Hocheng Corporation, focusing on B2B markets)
- YING (acquired by Roca)
- FAENZA (a brand under ARROW, emphasizing design with the brand proposition of “artistic bathroom”)
- ANNWA (a brand under ARROW, targeting younger consumers and highlighting its understanding of youth)
International Bathroom Brands
Two Giants: KOHLER and TOTO
KOHLER and TOTO are the most well-known international bathroom brands in China, with the highest sales and market share. Both have deep roots in China, each operating over ten factories and extensive distribution channels, making them the most successful foreign-funded brands (though their performance is currently declining—TOTO closed two factories this year). Some non-core products of KOHLER and TOTO are also produced by OEM factories. KOHLER has a very complete product line, while TOTO excels in ceramic fixtures, especially its Washlet (smart toilet seat) products.
Four German Brands: Villeroy & Boch, Duravit, Hansgrohe, GROHE
Germans excel not only in kitchenware but also in bathroom fixtures. Villeroy & Boch, for instance, manufactures both ceramic tableware and sanitary ware, reaching ceiling-level standards in both fields. These four German brands are positioned slightly higher than KOHLER and TOTO, with a correspondingly narrower audience. Further up the hierarchy are more niche brands like DORNBRACHT and LAUFEN—indeed, higher prices often mean smaller markets.
Villeroy & Boch has no factories in China, with all products imported.
Duravit has its own factories in Chongqing and Shanghai, with some product components or even finished products produced by OEM factories.
Hansgrohe and GROHE also have externally OEMed products. Originally from the same family (evident from “grohe” in both brand names), they belonged to Germany’s Grohe family. After several transitions, Hansgrohe’s largest shareholder is the U.S.-based Masco Group, while GROHE was acquired by Japan’s LIXIL. Hansgrohe’s hardware is unparalleled, especially its showerheads (the “king of showerheads” title is well-deserved), renowned for exceptional quality, personalized design, and environmental focus, with numerous awards.
Others: Roca, MOEN, INAX, American Standard, DELTA
Roca: A century-old Spanish enterprise and global bathroom giant, Roca ranks third in China’s market share after KOHLER and TOTO, with multiple factories in China. However, many products are OEM-produced by domestic enterprises. Originally manufacturing cast iron heaters and boilers, Roca began producing bathtubs in 1929. As an industry giant, it also pursues acquisitions—for example, acquiring Switzerland’s
Laufen (the world’s fourth-largest ceramic fixture manufacturer at the time) in 1999 and China’s YING Bathroom mentioned earlier.
MOEN: An American brand with high market share in the U.S., MOEN focuses on hardware products like faucets and showerheads, operating a factory in Changshu, Jiangsu. Most of its products are OEM-produced, with a mid-range positioning. A significant portion of its business supplies supporting products to real estate developers like Vanke.
INAX: Subordinate to Japan’s LIXIL Group.
American Standard: Originally an American brand, it was also acquired by LIXIL, like GROHE.
DELTA: An American brand under Masco Group, one of the world’s largest home consumer goods manufacturers. DELTA mainly produces faucet hardware, enjoying high market share in the U.S. but low visibility in China.
The above overview introduction of existing bathroom brands in China—both domestic and international—aims to assist in understanding the Chinese bathroom market.
